The Tuscaloosa Winds is recruiting faculty, staff and students as well as community members who play or played flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, euphonium, oboe, bassoon, or percussion. Philosophy Department Lecture
Dr. Erik Angner, assistant professor in the department of philosophy and the department of finance, economics, and quantitative methods at UAB, will speak Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1:30-3 p.m., 352A ten Hoor. Angner will present “Are Subjective Measures of Well-Being ‘Direct’?” The talk, hosted by the philosophy department and the College of Arts and Sciences, is free and open to the public. A Conversation with Filmmaker Albert Maysles
A conversation with Oscar-nominated and award-winning filmmaker Albert Maysles, Aug. 31, 11-11:45 a.m., 206 Reese Phifer. Maysles will discuss his five-decade career as a documentary filmmaker, including his work on films like Gimme Shelter about the Rolling Stones, cinema verite classics Grey Gardens and Salesman, and the award-winning HBO documentary Lalee’s Kin: The Legacy of Cotton.
