The academic calendar for 2006-07 offers a new feature: fall break. A mid-semester study break is schedule for Oct. 19-20 for students and faculty.
“This should give students a four-day extended weekend to rest, travel home or get caught up on projects as they prepare for the remainder of the term. The University will be open, but we hope the two days without class will provide faculty with extra time for research, service projects or preparation for teaching,” according to a memorandum from Provost Judy Bonner.
Spring break for 2007 will be March 12-16, which is near the middle of the semester and coincides with spring break for Tuscaloosa City and County schools and Shelton State Community College.
“When possible, we try to coordinate the spring break schedule with area schools for the convenience of our faculty, staff and students,” Bonner said.
