Alumni Association Celebrates University’s 175th Anniversary with Lapel Pin

In celebration of the University’s 175th anniversary, the UA Alumni Association will distribute specially designed lapel pins to faculty and staff who are active members of the association.

“The lapel pins are our way of saying thank you for being a member of the alumni association,” said Pat Whetstone, director of alumni affairs.

Alumni and friends of UA who attend alumni events during 2006 and are members of the association also will receive the lapel pin.

“Numerous events have been planned, both on campus and through our alumni chapter network, to commemorate this milestone in the University’s history. We will be taking birthday cakes to chapter meetings with the 175th logo on the cake. We will sing ‘happy birthday’ and eat the cake for dessert,” said Whetstone.

Faculty or staff not active with the alumni association may join for a limited time for a discounted membership contribution of $17.50 in recognition of the anniversary year. This discounted membership is not for a full year and will expire on Dec. 31. The solicitation for memberships at the special rate will end May 31.

“Everyone is welcome to join at the special rate – faculty, staff, alumni, friends, everyone,” said Whetstone.
