UA Searching for Reality Fashion Series Television Co-Hostby Becky Booker Television producers in the Center for Public Television and Radio in the UA College of Communication and Information Sciences are searching for a dynamic and energetic television talent. This fashion knowledgeable person will co-host an original reality series focusing on the fashion issues of everyday people. “We’re mounting an all out campaign to find the right person for the new series. The co-host should be fun, energetic, possess charisma, and have experience in the fashion industry,” says show creator and co-host Catenya McHenry Ashford. Qualified applicants are encouraged to send a five-minute audition tape by Aug. 8. Instructions on what to include on the tape and an application are available by visiting www.wvua7.com/fashiontvshow. Industry insider buzz indicates the show has great potential in the national cable market. The new series is expected to debut this fall as part of UA’s plan to produce original programming for Channel 23, its full power, commercial station. “We are taking Alabama television into a new era. This new series is just one example of the type of lifestyle programming we are pursuing,” said Amy Eifler, co-executive producer. Channel 23 will feature sports, entertainment, news and informational programming emanating from UA’s campus in Tuscaloosa, according to officials. UA acquired Channel 23 in 2004 and is one of an elite group of three public universities owning commercial television stations. “We are committed to producing programs that are entertaining and worthwhile and that reflect the places and faces of the community,” said Johnny Price, general manager of UA’s television stations. |
