UAPD Reaccredited

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies recently informed UAPD Chief Steve Tucker that The University of Alabama Police Department has been reaccredited for the third time with no conditions, making it a flagship department. The reaccreditation is applicable for three years. The executive director and the chair of the Agency congratulated UAPD “for demonstrating commitment to professional law enforcement in policy and practice.”

The process calls for a thorough agency-wide self-evaluation and review by a team of independent assessors. UAPD will continue to fulfill standards above the mandatory limits. For information about UAPD, its powers and mission, visit the Web site at http://police.ua.edu/.
