UA Initiates Strategic Planning CycleWith a new set of senior administrators now in place, The University of Alabama is ready to move forward with a strategic planning process. The process recently began with a series of "listening sessions" with key stakeholder groups on campus. Sessions are scheduled for the Faculty Senate's Steering Committee, student leaders, representatives from the Senior Management Council, and the Council of Assistant and Associate Deans. The input from these stakeholder groups will be consolidated into a first rough planning draft that will be reviewed and influenced by the Council of Deans and then by the vice presidents, before going to UA President Dr. Robert E. Witt. When finalized, the strategic plan will be posted on the University's website and will be included in the compliance plan being submitted to the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS). Administrative units and colleges will then be able to review the plan in the fall of 2004 to make whatever adjustments to college-level and department-level plans that faculty and administrators think are needed to ensure alignment with the University's strategic plan. The strategic planning cycle will be coordinated by the Office of Continuous Quality Improvement and Planning. |
