Tide After Ten, Ferguson Center — Movie Screening: Kill Bill: Vol. I Kill Bill: Vol. I, rated R, stars Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Lucy Liu, Michael Madsen, Sonny Chiba. Uma Thurman is going to KILL BILL, in Quentin Tarantino's latest film about a former assassin betrayed by her boss, Bill (David Carradine). Four years after surviving a bullet in the head, the bride (Thurman) emerges from a coma and swears revenge on her former master and his deadly squad of international assassins. Ferguson Theater. Feb. 26-29. Admission is $1 Cash or Bama Cash. For show times call 348-6063. Feb. 28 — Nightingale Day A fun-filled day of exploration into the educational and career opportunities in nursing. Ferguson Center Theatre, 9 a.m. Admission is free and open to all high school and transfer students interested in pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) at UA. For more information contact Pat McCullar, Capstone College of Nursing, 348-6639. March 6 — Run for the Roses 5K Race Project R.O.S.E. (Recycled Oil Saves Energy), the volunteer used motor oil recycling program for the state of Alabama, is inviting the public to participate in the seventh annual "Run for the Roses" 5K race. The certified race begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by the Rosebud onemile fun run, an awards ceremony and door prizes. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. near the UA Riverside Amphitheater on race day. The cost for the Rosebud one-mile fun run is $5. Entry fees are $12 before March 4, $15 day of race. March 6 — Flava Fest 2004 A cultural event that exhibits all of the various cultures at the Capstone. Dinner will be provided. Sponsored by the International Student Association. LecturesFeb. 25 — Tony Bolden's Afro-Blue: Reading, Reception, and Signing Tony Bolden, assistant professor of English at UA, will speak and sign copies of Afro-Blue: Improvisations in African American Poetry and Culture, 4:30 p.m. Free and open to the public. (See related article). An exhibition of African-American literature and music-related materials from the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library, curated by Bolden and Jessica Lacher-Feldman from the Hoole Library, will be on display in conjunction with African-American Heritage Month.
