History Professor Appears on C-Span 2
UA's Office of Media Relations is looking for interesting and unusual stories of graduates who will receive degrees at spring Commencement, May 16. Story angles might include graduates overcoming adversity to get an education, non-traditional graduates, or graduates with interesting job offers. UA's Center for Mental Health and Aging continues its scientific seminar series with "Impaired Financial Abilities in Patients with Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment" Monday, April 28, from noon-1:30 p.m. in 104 Little Hall. Lunch is provided. Dr. Dan Marson, from UAB's department of neurology, will be the speaker. University Rec to Host 'Relay for Life' University Recreation will host the 9th annual American Cancer Society "Relay for Life" on the Rec Center's fields complex Friday, April 25, at 6 p.m. until Saturday, April 26, at 6 a.m. UA teams from organizations and departments are needed to participate in this important 12-hour event. Deadline to Rent Commencement Regalia is April 25 Faculty and staff members who need to rent Commencement caps and gowns may place orders at the University Supply Store (the SUPe store) no later than Friday, April 25. Commencement is Friday, May 16, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Watch for more details in the May 5 issue of Dialog. UA's Junior Panhellenic Association's Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on the lawn of the President's Mansion. All children of UA faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance. In the event of rain, the hunt will be cancelled. Crimson Campers Taking Applications University Recreation is signing up kids to attend the 4th annual Crimson Campers Recreational Day Camp. There will be three weeks of day camps for kids ages 6-13: week 1, May 26-30; week 2, June 2-6; week 3, June 9-13. There are all kinds of activities such as swimming, tennis, volleyball and more. The cost is $135 per child, per week. Kids bring their lunches. Only 20 spots per week are available. For more information, contact Jill Tappen at 348-1337. UA's School of Music will present the Alabama Jazz Combos in concert Monday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building. The concert is free and open to the public. The ensemble will perform works by Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Dave Douglas and other greats. For more information, call 348-7111.
