Fall 2002 Faculty and Staff Meeting

UA Interim President Barry Mason is scheduled to address the annual fall faculty and staff meeting Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. in Morgan Auditorium. Watch for details in Dialog and Dialog Extra about new items on the agenda. The announcement and introduction of the winners of the National Alumni Association's 2002- 2003 Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award (OCTA) will be part of the meeting. The OCTA is one of the most prestigious faculty awards presented at the University. All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

New Faculty Welcomed to Campus

New faculty orientation is scheduled for all tenure-track and extended-contract new faculty Monday, Aug. 19, in the Rast B room of the Paul W. Bryant Conference Center. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. and activities will conclude at 3 p.m. UA Interim President Barry Mason will give a welcome address at 9 a.m.

New faculty benefits orientation will be held on various dates. The schedule is presented in Personnel Matters. The most convenient way to have pictures for Dialog made is to go to the photography office, G-5 Rose Administration building, 30 minutes before or after a benefits orientation session. Family Weekend 2002

Family Weekend 2002 is scheduled for Sept. 27-29. This event will be UA's third annual Family Weekend, when the entire University welcomes students' families to campus for a full slate of events. Attendance at past Family Weekends indicates the event is highly successful. Log on to familyweekend.ua.edu for the most up-to-date information and agenda. For more information or to find out what individuals or areas can do to participate, contact Cheree Causey, assistant to the vice president for student affairs, at 348-3277.

Kickoff on the Quad

UA's first Kickoff on the Quad is scheduled for the first home football game, Sept. 14, before the Alabama v. North Texas game. There will be new events and activities, so watch for details in the Sept. 3 Dialog.
