Human Resources Development training sessions will be conducted at G54 Rose Administration building unless otherwise stated. Persons with special needs should contact Margie Karrh. The Training Resource Center (TRC) offers videos for a staff development "lunch and learn" program. The TRC accommodates six to eight people. By Sandra Abrams, Manager of Benefits Tuition Grant Applications -- All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff employed for six continuous months are eligible to receive educational benefits through the tuition grant program sponsored by UA. The program applies to the payment of tuition only. The tuition grant provides the eligible faculty or staff member's full tuition credit for up to three course hours during the fall and spring semesters and six course hours during the summer term. Regular part-time employees will receive a prorated amount of tuition grant based upon their FTE (full-time equivalency). Spouses and dependent children of eligible faculty and staff members may receive 50 percent tuition credit at the standard on-campus in-state tuition rate. Eligible dependent children must be unmarried and under age 24 on the first day of classes. Effective January 2002, the taxation of graduate course credit has been eliminated and will not be taxed to the employee. However, graduate course credit taken by dependents of employees will be taxed to the employee at the end of the semester in which the dependent was enrolled and received a tuition grant. This will usually occur in June for the spring semester, September for summer term and December for the fall semester. Details of the policy and the forms may be obtained from the Benefits Office. One form is valid from fall semester through the end of the summer term. Forms for the academic year beginning fall 2002 through summer 2003 should be received in the Benefits Office by July 19, 2002. For information, call the Benefits Office at 348-7117. |
