Dr. Cathy Johnson Randall, director of UA's Computer Based Honors Program, was presented the prestigious E. Roger Sayers Distinguished Service Award at the recent spring faculty/staff meeting. A long-time and honored employee of UA, Randall received a standing ovation for her remarks at being awarded this honor. Randall expressed being humbled by the University's giving her this high honor when UA has already given her so much. She said that she felt the need to give back to her alma mater, "this loving foster mother who nurtured my growth and development."

She recalled that the then-new computer-based honors curriculum was the deciding factor in her attending the University, where she graduated in 1972 and shortly thereafter began her career. She earned her master's degree in 1975 and her doctorate in 1977, both in the area of higher education administration.

The Sayers Award was created in 1996 by members of the President's Cabinet and the National Alumni Association to recognize faculty and exempt administrative personnel who have performed in an exemplary manner to further the mission of the University.
