Libraries Seek Input on Survey, Virtual Project

The UA Libraries system is asking faculty, staff and students to express their opinions regarding the services provided by the libraries on an electronic survey and to try out a proposed "virtual chat with a librarian." These small investments of time will offer rewards for all library users. See related story for details.

Higher Ed Partnership and UAS PAC Equal Political Influence

The close of the regular Legislative session in Montgomery is a good time to remember some political realities. UAS Chancellor Mack Portera recently reminded UA’s Legislative Agenda Committee that ratcheting up the Higher Education Partnership and the UAS PAC is critical. The UAS PAC needs about $1 million to remain an influential player in demanding equitable funding for higher education and K-12 from the Alabama Legislature.

UA faculty and staff who are interested in being a member of the HEP and the UAS PAC may join and contribute funds through payroll deduction. The forms for HEP and UAS PAC membership are easy to obtain from the UA Web site or from the government relations office. On the Web:

Go to the UA Government Relations page by typing in http://governmentrelations.ua.edu, or go to the site map from the main home page and click on "G" to find the Government Relations page.

Then click on "Join the HEP and/or UAS PAC." This link has a form for both the HEP and UAS PAC.

Print out the form and return the filled-out and signed form to the government relations office through campus mail to Bill Jones at Box 870122.

By phone: Call the government relations office at 334/242-2262 and request a form by email, fax or mail.
