VMA Honors Fallen Soldiers, Wounded Warriors
March 4th, 2013 - Filed under: Connections
David Blair, director of UA’s Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (VMA); Jason Sellars, VMA veterans program and benefit coordinator; Dr. Lowell Davis, assistant dean of students; and Jordan Carpenter, UA senior and Campus Veterans Association president, traveled to Washington, D.C. in February to honor soldiers wounded and killed in the line of duty.
The group carried UA gear donated by the UA Supply Store and members of the UA family to present to soldiers in Walter Reed Hospital’s Wounded Warrior Facility in Bethesda, Md. They also attended a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
“The visit to the Walter Reed facility was an opportunity for The University of Alabama to honor the nation’s wounded warriors and hopefully have them cheering in the Bryant-Denny student section in the near future,” said Blair.
