TIPS FOR ESTABLISHING WATER SERVICE — During this time of year, many new faculty, staff and students are moving to Tuscaloosa. Following are some helpful tips to make establishing or transferring water service quicker and easier.

The city of Tuscaloosa has posted forms on its website that will allow customers to apply for new accounts or transfer existing accounts. The forms and their instructions can be found at http://www.tuscaloosa.com/index.aspx?nid=1050.

Customers who already have accounts with the city of Tuscaloosa can pay bills (with no service charge), view their past 12 bills and review account usage information online at https://tuscaloosa.munisselfservice.com/citizens/UtilityBilling/Default.aspx. Customers will need to have their account numbers and customer IDs to use this service. If they do not have this information readily available, they can email ubcontact@tuscaloosa.com with the account holder’s name and service address to request it.

CONTINUING-EDUCATION CREDIT — The Alabama Center for Real Estate, part of UA’s Culverhouse College of Commerce, will host the West Alabama Real Estate Summit Aug. 24 at the Bryant Conference Center. WORTH QUOTING — “The ratings are surprising to me. I thought social media would be more of a detriment than an attribute. I thought more people would not tune in because they knew the results.” Dr. Andy Billings, Ronald Reagan Chair of Broadcasting at UA, as quoted in a WOODTV8.com (Michigan) segment on the ratings of the summer Olympics on NBC.
