ANNOUNCEMENTS

SPECIAL CRIMSON RIDE SCHEDULE — From Monday, Aug. 13, to Thursday, Aug. 16, Crimson Ride buses will run modified schedules and routes between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Limited on-demand service will be available to employees and students via 348-Ride (7433) during those hours.

REGISTRATION FOR FACULTY AND STAFF PARKING — Faculty and staff can now register for parking permits for 2012-13. To register, employees can log in to myBama, click on the Employee tab and then go to the Auxiliary Services box. Current permits expire on Aug. 15.

SUPE STORE, PARKING AND ACTION CARDS — Faculty and staff can take advantage of special hours this weekend at the University Supply Store, Parking Services, and the Action Card office when lines are expected to be shorter. The following dates and hours apply:

Saturday, Aug. 18
Ferguson and Tutwiler Supply Store locations, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Law School Supply Store, 10 a.m.– 2 p.m.
Parking and Action Card offices, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 19
Ferguson and Tutwiler Supply Store locations, 12:30– 4:30 p.m.
Parking and Action Card offices, 2-5 p.m.

OCT COLLECTING SUPPLIES FOR SCHOOLS — The Office, Clerical and Technical Staff Assembly at UA is collecting school supplies for two local elementary schools. Donation boxes are located in Gorgas Library, Mary Harmon Bryant Hall, Bidgood Hall, Hardaway Hall, the Ancillary Services Building at 1115 14th St. and the University Supply Store at the Ferguson Center. Click on the OCTSA Outreach “STUFF THE BUS” link at http://octsa.ua.edu for a list of supplies and for the exact locations of the donation boxes. The last day to donate is Aug. 15.

CRIMSON COUCH TO 5K COORDINATORS — The Office of Health Promotion and Wellness is seeking coordinators for the third annual Crimson Couch to 5K. Volunteer coordinators representing each college, school and division are needed for recruitment and promotion of this nine-week, team-based wellness and physical activity program for UA faculty and staff. MOUNDVILLE ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK DOCENT-TRAINING CLASSMoundville Archaeological Park will conduct a training class for docents Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park. Museum docents are highly trained individuals who give in-depth tours to visitors. The training session will teach students the fundamentals of archaeology, the prehistory and history of Moundville and its cultural significance and will introduce them to the museum’s new exhibits. All materials are provided as well as coffee, snacks and lunch. All potential docents will eventually shadow experienced guides on their tours before ultimately conducting a tour on their own. Those who volunteer for the training must be willing to donate at least one eight-hour day of their time per month. CONTINUING-EDUCATION CREDIT — The Alabama Center for Real Estate, part of UA’s Culverhouse College of Commerce, will host the West Alabama Real Estate Summit Aug. 24 at the Bryant Conference Center. The summit includes a residential real-estate forum in the morning and a commercial real-estate forum in the afternoon. Both forums are approved for three hours of continuing education.
