UNIVERSITY SUPPLY STORE HOURS TODAY — The SUPe Store (Ferguson Center and Tutwiler Hall locations) will close at 5 p.m. today.

BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TAILGATE AND VIEWING PARTY — The party begins at 6:30 p.m. today at the Ferguson Center. For more information, contact Kelli Knox-Hall at kknox-hall@sa.ua.edu or 348-3250. The game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers kicks off at 7:30 p.m. from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La., and will be televised by ESPN.

UPCOMING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF UA PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO — The studio in the Office of Photography in G-5 Rose Administration Building will be closed for renovations from approximately Jan. 11 to Feb. 29. Photographers will still be available for assignment outside of the studio. Continue to use the photography request form (http://www.ua.edu/advancement/ur/photography/reqform.html) to request a photographer.

APPLICATIONS FOR RESEARCH-GRANT FUNDING FOR UA FACULTY — The Research Grants Committee, through the Office of the Vice President for Research, is accepting applications for research-grant funding for all tenure-track and tenured UA faculty who are employed full-time. Applicants may apply for funding in an amount up to $6,000 for a grant-in-aid (salary for all or part of summer), assistants, supplies, equipment, books and travel. Proposals submitted for funding that exceed this amount will not be considered. Details of procedures, priorities and restrictions used by the Research Grants Committee in awarding research funds are in the updated RGC manual at http://osp.ua.edu/rgc_grants.html. Faculty who are planning to apply for RGC funds should obtain and review a copy of the manual before submitting a proposal. NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR PEER LEADERS — Peer Leaders offers students a unique classroom experience and leadership opportunity. Peer Leaders partner with faculty members to co-facilitate courses for first-year students. These courses help first-year students adjust to the University, develop a better understanding of campus resources and acquire essential academic-success skills. Peer Leaders serve as role models and mentors to first-year students and help them make a smooth social and academic transition to the Capstone. To nominate students for Peer Leaders, email parentsc2@sa.ua.edu with the following information by Jan. 24: nominator’s name and email address; nominees’ names and email addresses; and any additional information about the nominees that should be considered.

STRIVE FOR FIVE COORDINATORS — The Office of Health Promotion and Wellness is introducing the fifth annual Strive for Five program for UA faculty and staff in 2012. Volunteer coordinators representing each college, school and division are needed for this five-week, team-based wellness program. UA CHURCH MUSIC CONFERENCE — People who are interested in attending the 2012 Church Music Conference can receive an early-bird discount by registering before noon on Jan. 20.
