Reminder: Apply Early for Tuition Grants
UA employees who wish to apply for tuition grants for the 2009-2010 academic year should submit their applications to the HR benefits office at least one month prior to the fee payment deadline. Due to recent revisions to the tuition grant form, employees now must have the form signed by the budget representative for their department. This new requirement will help minimize charges to incorrect and nonexistent account numbers (FOAP). In order to avoid delays in getting forms approved, employees are encouraged to apply starting now. Those who have already submitted a tuition grant for the upcoming academic year will not need to complete another form.
UA Health and Wellness Efforts Earn American Heart Association Award
Fitness, nutrition and other wellness initiatives make up an increasingly important aspect of the UA workplace. Now, these initiatives are getting national recognition: the University recently was named a 2009 Gold Level Recipient of the American Heart Association’s Start! Fit-Friendly Companies Recognition Program. To earn Gold Level status, an organization must offer employees physical activity support; provide healthy eating options at the work site; promote a wellness culture; and implement at least nine criteria in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture.
